Our Products: The UL2

Posted by Gabby Tinner on

Hello, Meet Our UL2!

When looking at our UL2 compared to similar 2-wall designed tents produced by Big Agnes, NEMO, MSR, REI, and Sierra Designs [other great brands we see in the big box Retailers] that are similar for ‘ultralight’ backpacking purposes, we were surprised at how we compared.

A quality, durable tent is one of the most important elements when building out a multi-day gear kit.  Whether you consider yourself an ultra-lightest or simply a backpacker that is learning to be more conscious of weight carried, we have built a tent just for you.

We know that our tent is not the lightest or the cheapest, but in terms of price per ounce, we offer a great valueWe know other fabrics exist, such as Cuban Fiber, but this comes at a tremendous cost increase; significantly reducing the goal of being affordable for most.  So we have focused on building a great lightweight shelter that balances performance fabrics, with award winning design, made for function, at a great price compared to its closest competition.

Pros: At a trail weight of only 2lbs 8oz (tent, fly, poles) this tent is lighter than most 2 person tents. (only 2 other tents were lighter, at an average price of 25% increased price and smaller interior space) It packs up small, and the integrated pole set means never forgetting an important piece.  Front doors leans away, preventing dirt and rain from falling inside tent when entering/exiting.  Semi-freestanding design allows for minimal need to stake out tent - rocks, anchors or sticks can be used.

Cons:  Semi-freestanding design means it sets up best with 2 stakes in the back.   Smaller space helps keep the weight down, but not much room for additional gear.  Would be a tight space if having to wait out rain for multiple days.

For the purpose of this post, we will only be providing information of our UL2, if you would like more information on our competitors’ tents, please review their sites. http://www.outdoorgearlab.com/Backpacking-Tent-Reviews#bicreview
