Camping in the wilderness is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is also a perfect opportunity to try out some new and exciting activities. Whether you are flying a kite, playing airsoft, or roasting marshmallows around the campfire, there is something for everyone to enjoy. So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and head out into nature!
The Excitement of Airsoft
A lot of people are afraid to try new things, but they shouldn’t be! Airsoft is a great example.
Although it is something many parents wouldn’t let their children participate in, it’s actually an exciting way to practice your survival skills outdoors. If you don’t have any equipment at home, no problem! You can find everything you need at your local sporting goods store, or online where you can find the best airsoft M4, or camouflage clothing and army boots. While it may not be to the taste of pacifists or those faint of heart, it is still one of the more exciting activities to try while camping out without a lot of other people present.
If you can find the proper surroundings for this activity, like a forest, an abandoned house, or a military object, then you are in for one hell of a game!
Flying Kites
If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing activity away from technology, why not fly some kites? Even if the weather isn’t cooperating, it is still worth the try! Other than flying kites with your friends or family, there are plenty of other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed on a sunny day.

To fly a kite is relatively easy, all you need is a good string, a kite, and maybe some bait. However, it is important to check the wind direction so you can adjust your string accordingly. You don’t want your kite getting stuck in a tree or on a hill! But even if there is no wind you can try to make it fly on a big open surface, such as meadow, where the weak air currents can leave it floating for a long time.
Roasting Marshmallows
Marshmallows are one of the best foods you can eat while camping since they’re easy to make and taste delicious. Even though this isn’t one of the most exciting activities to try while camping, what could be more comforting than roasting marshmallows over an open fire? When accompanied by some sticks, anything tastes better!
Marshmallows are not the only thing one can prepare on a stick over a fire. You can also try sausages, hot dogs, or even corn. Just make sure to cook everything thoroughly so you don’t have to eat raw food or get food poisoning. After all, when you’re out in the middle of nowhere it is not a good thing to get ill, as help is not nearby.
Stargazing
If you love the outdoors and nature, stargazing can be one of the more relaxing activities to try while camping out in nature. It is not an activity many people would think of when it comes to spending time with friends or family, but everyone should do it at least once in their lives.
Camping in the wilderness allows you to observe things that are normally hard to see in big cities because of things like light pollution and air pollution. On clear nights when away from polluted areas, seeing stars with your naked eye is easier than ever! Bringing with you an astronomy atlas allows you to pick out the constellations and the planets in them.
Although not always visible, there are also satellites orbiting our planet which you can make out with a somewhat decent travel telescope. Other than satellites, you might even see a few shooting stars if you’re really lucky!
Playing Hide and Seek and Other Outdoor Games
If you and your friends like playing hide and seek, it is a great way to get away from city life while still having fun. This is one of the more popular activities to try while camping with kids, but even adults can play children’s games if they feel like it! It’s not always about having fun on the high-tech devices we all have access to nowadays, sometimes it’s just nice to go back in time and enjoy nature while enjoying something simple.
An Easter egg hunt can be organized for children and even some adults might be excited about trying it. It’s a classic game that has been around for generations, and if you haven’t played it yet you should really try it!
If you plan on staying at your campsite for an extended period of time, there are many other activities to try while camping beside the ones mentioned above. For example, playing board games can provide hours of entertainment especially if you have no internet access or phone signal where you are. You can also go fishing or play football with your friends or family members.

Collecting Herbs
If you’re someone who likes cooking, one of the most exciting activities to try while camping is collecting herbs. Of course, it doesn’t have to be done while camping but if you had to choose between doing it at home or in the wilderness then why not do it outside? You might find some interesting new flavors that can add a whole lot of diversity when making your food!
This activity will require some research beforehand though because not all plants are edible and may even be poisonous. To avoid any accidents, always go for relatively easy-to-identify herbs such as garlic chives, parsley, and thyme which can provide extra flavor when cooked with your favorite dish.
Another option is to start your own herbarium, with neatly pressed leaves and correct labeling, with Latin names and everything.
